RDEČA RAKETA is the meeting ground and laboratory of two multifaceted Viennese artists. We cover MAJA OSOJNIK’s particulars in the presentation for her project « All.The.Terms.We.Are. », also on the bill this year. MATIJA SCHELLANDER plays several instruments, but he is mostly a doublebassist. He performs in jazz groups and avant-rock bands (like Metalycée), and improvises with first-rate musicians like Franz Hautzinger, Isabelle Duthoit, and Montrealer Pierre-Yves Martel. He also plays analogue synthesizers.
In RDEČA RAKETA, OSOJNIK and SCHELLANDER use lo-fi devices (cassette players, toys), synths, bass, and laptop to weave drama-laced electroacoustic improvisations. Under this name they released two albums and produced music for silent films, dance, and radio shows.
For their appearance at FIMAV, they will be accompanied by video artist MICHAELA GRILL. She started her career in Austria, where she worked extensively on the experimental music scene (especially with Martin Siewert and Christof Kurzmann). She also collaborated with Philip Jeck and rock band Radiohead before relocating to Montreal, where she was quickly adopted by the music community.
