A Transitional Year
As many are aware, Michel Levasseur, the founder of the Festival International de Musique Actuelle de Victoriaville (FIMAV), left the organisation following more than forty years of exceptional service.
His hard work has not only raised the profile of contemporary music, but has also positioned the city of Victoriaville as an essential cultural hub. The departure of such a key figure inevitably provokes significant changes.
In the interests of continuity and excellence, the team at FIMAV has decided that the 41st edition will be a transitional year. This approach will give the new festival team the time to develop and overcome many challenges, while establishing a solid structure that will ensure FIMAV’s longevity for years to come. Therefore, 2025 edition will feature fewer concerts. However – fear not – this is being done so that FIMAV will be back in 2026 with the same structure as in previous years, with around twenty shows. Thank you for your support and understanding.
A year of transition: what does it mean?
The 41st edition will offering a smaller but carefully-crafted program, focused on quality and audience engagement. There will be two major shows featuring collaborations between local and international artists, offering surprising and original musical experiences.
FIMAV’s signature circuit of sound art installations will once again transform downtown Victoriaville, inviting visitors and passers-by of all ages to enjoy these immersive artistic experiences. There will also be screenings of experimental short films and a variety of other exciting activities, the details of which we can’t wait to share with you. This 41st edition will mark an important milestone for FIMAV, and we look forward to sharing this transition with you in keeping with the innovative and unifying spirit for which the festival is renowned. .
