This immersive sound installation features 15 speakers, each playing the voice of a single heavy metal singer, known as a growler. Visitors are invited to wander between the speakers and continuously explore each of the fantastic voices of the 15 growlers. They can venture into the heart of the sound of this fifteen-headed hydra.

Pierre-Luc Senécal

With a master’s degree in music (University of Montreal), Pierre-Luc Senécal has flourished in the fertile field of electroacoustics. Deeply inspired by rock, pop, and metal, he infuses his electronic works with his sensitivity, lyricism, and energy. His music has been performed in Germany, Canada, South Korea, the United States, Italy, Monaco, Russia, and Sweden. Among other notable achievements, he founded the vociferous and media-savvy Growlers Choir, a unique vocal ensemble comprising metal singers.

Growlers Choir

Composed solely of metal singers, known as growlers, Growlers Choir blends metal and experimental music in a revolutionary way. Composer Pierre-Luc Senécal founded the choir in 2018 in Montreal, one of the world’s metal music capitals. Fascinated by extreme metal music and the incredible richness of throat singing, Senécal and Growlers Choir demonstrate the acoustic potential of the voice and its extraordinary properties, both sensual and monstrous.
