This sound-based ecosystem is a collage of field recordings on continuously altered cassettes. Sensors map environmental data that transform the sound captured live. The sounds are then played in ‘sound showers,’ where the desire to preserve traces mingles with mechanical alteration and the fragility of environments affected by human activity.
Biographical Note:
A multidisciplinary artist based in Quebec City, originally from Drummondville. Her work lies at the intersection of sound, drawing, and installation, exploring how memory, material, and space interact through immersive and sensitive devices, where fragility, traces, and wear become material for creation.
Her approach is rooted in a slow and attentive process in which the artistic gesture resembles a ritual of care. She is interested in the interdependent relationships between the living and the manufactured, and in the way objects, sounds, and places retain the memory of their use. Her work thus revolves around an attentive relationship to space and the traces of human activity.
Through urban gleaning, the reuse of materials, and the assembly of obsolete electronic components, her research aims to prolong the life of objects and reflect on their symbolism, their fragility, and their need for maintenance. This logic of reuse is part of a broader reflection on the materiality of the sensory world, echoing the beauty and precariousness of life.
Through the installations, sound, visual, and textual fragments come together to create environments for listening and contemplation. Analogue technologies—cassettes, magnetic tapes, DIY circuits—undergo physical manipulation: cutting, collage, tension in space. These fragile, visible, and vibrant loops make the temporality of sound tangible and invite us to inhabit time differently.
