Opening of the 41st FIMAV
The entire team at FIMAV honours the enormous contributions that our friend Michel Fordin made both to the festival and to our lives, following the announcement of his death on Thursday, 8 May. As we open this year’s edition today, we invite everyone to gather at FIMAV to celebrate the transformative power of music and art, as well as the joy of being together through these experiences, just as Michel would have wanted.
As the festival’s Directeur des Aménagements since 2018 and also Technical Director since last year, Michel was an indispensable team member, especially in overseeing the annual circuit of Sound Installations in Public Spaces, as this important programming component grew in scope to its current capacity of 10 works. Through his illness and until his final days, he continued his steadfast work on this year’s particularly inspiring circuit of works. We wholeheartedly invite you to see the fruits of this labour, open as of today, 12 May, until Sunday 18 May. More information here.
With the significant changes in FIMAV personnel over the past few years, those that have provoked our ‘transitional year’ in 2025 and attendant reduced programming, we acknowledge the amazing wealth of knowledge, skill, passion, humour, and dedication that Michel Fordin brought to the team, reassuring those around him that all was well at hand. In this spirit, the rest of the FIMAV team will surely put what we have learned from him as we execute this year’s event.
In the joy of this acknowledgement, we welcome you all to share these experiences with us at the 41st FIMAV.
Bon festival !
