FIMAV 42 | An Incredible Edition
FIMAV 42 was a bold return to a full-festival format, one that incorporated exciting new elements like free outdoor concerts and the popular Quartier général (Festival Hub).
Along with a stellar circuit of ten sound art installations and two projections of experimental cinema, the event featured 25 ticketed and free concerts by world-class musicians. Standouts included two projects by Darius Jones (Legend of e’Boi and fLuXkit Vancouver), Josh Zubot Strings, Sakina Abdou / Toma Gouband / Marta Warelis, Yves Charuest / John Edwards / Mark Sanders, and أحمد [Ahmed] Play Monk.
Meanwhile, nearly 500 people bathed in the joyous sounds of fanfare Pourpour and the glorious sunshine on the first truly lovely Sunday this month of May.
The FIMAV team and Board wish to thank all festival artists, attendees, volunteers, sponsors, media, and public partners for making the event so memorable.
Artistic Vision 2026
“At FIMAV 42 you can hear world-class artists from Quebec, Canada, and abroad in formal settings with which long-time festival audiences will be familiar. Darius Jones, Pat Thomas, Rafael Toral, Amirtha Kidambi, and Eric Chenaux, for example, have never played FIMAV before. With our additional series of free informal concerts and satellite event, audiences will have different kinds of access to many of them as well. This edition will be ‘up close and personal’ and we think it will be more festive because of it!”
