A Series of Free Events<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

We are pleased to add a series of free events that invite our audience to engage with the artists of the 41st FIMAV. A full list of these activities will be kept up to date on this page, below, and circulated through social media but, in particular, note these three events. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

WEDNESDAY 14 MAY | 7 PM | FREE | LEWIS CAF\u00c9\u202f<\/strong> <\/p>\n\n\n\n

MEET THE SOUND ART INSTALLATION ARTISTS, PLUS INFORMAL CONCERT<\/strong> <\/p>\n\n\n\n

This event will feature sound art installation artists presenting their work and responding to questions from attendees. To follow, there will be two informal sets of improvised music: <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2022 Giuseppe Masia (solo turntables) \u202f \u2022 Bernard Falaise (guitar), Kalun Leung (trombone) & Nicole Rampersaud (trumpet) <\/p>\n\n\n\n

MEET FIMAV’S DIRECTOR, SCOTT THOMSON, PLUS INFORMAL CONCERT<\/strong> <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Meet Scott Thomson, FIMAV’s new Artistic Director, in a conversation moderated by festival collaborator, Ariane Plante. To be followed by two sets of improvised music: <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2022 Jean Derome (flute, saxes, objects) & Joshua Zubot (violin) \u202f \u2022 Lina Allemano (trumpet), Allison Burik (reeds) & Jesse Zubot (violin) <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u202f<\/strong>\u202fMATS GUSTAFSSON \u00ab 1+1+1+1 \u00bb\u202f<\/strong> <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mats\u2019s concept is simple: an audience member is led into the Cabaret while, from backstage, Mats leads a fellow musician to the same spot. That one musician proceeds to play one minute of music for that one listener in that one room \u2013\u2013 hence the name \u00ab 1+1+1+1 \u00bb. When the music is over, a new listener and another musician are led into the room, and the process \u2013\u2013 and the piece \u2013\u2013 continues to unfold. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

No reservation required. Attendance at \u00ab 1+1+1+1 \u00bb is first-come, first-served; attendees can present themselves outside the Cabaret as of 8:30pm. <\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n
