This is the noise summit of the 2018 edition, a trio that pummels, screams and screeches!
For over 30 years now, MERZBOW has remained the uncontested king of noise music. A FIMAV regular since the late ’90s,
he has previously performed solo and alongside Keiji Haino, Pan Sonic, Wolf Eyes, and Richard Pinhas.
This time, MERZBOW proposed a project that has been doing the rounds since 2009: a collaboration with Hungarian drummer
BALÁZS PÁNDI. We are proud to present to you this young phenomenon (barely in his mid-thirties). PÁNDI has worked with Venetian Snares,
To Live and Shave in L.A., and Wadada Leo Smith, among others. He is as much at ease in experimental rock than in scorching free jazz. His playing combines strength, speed, and creativity.
In 2012, MATS GUSTAFSSON came on board to turn the duo into a savage trio creature documented on the albums Cuts and Live in Tabačka 13/04/12.
The sax player from FIRE! and The Thing proves to be a perfect match, his instrument widening the pair’s sound palette without taking an iota of energy away – quite the contrary!
