Political Ritual : création vidéo
POLITICAL RITUAL build paradoxical performances. Their shows, clearly prepared and planned out, are reimprovised with ever iteration. The instrumentation matters little, since both members’ art resides in overlaying treated sources in an architectural manner and weaving impeccable atmospheres; on the other hand, instruments are carefully selected and directly influence the outcome. Visual projections are an integral part of the project; however, as poetic as they can be, their mandate is not to help the listener make sense of the sound track. One simply has to let go and be carried away, something pretty easy to do when a duo is as in control of what they do as this one.
MAXIME CORBEIL-PERRON and FÉLIX-ANTOINE MORIN both studied – and practice – visual and audio arts. They are founding members of the Montreal-based label Kohlenstoff Records, on which they released their debut album in 2014. Early last year came a brilliant second, eponymous record, this time on Ambiances Magnétiques. For their FIMAV concert, they are preparing a brand new audiovisual program with which they will be touring afterwards.
